Exploration of non-traditional hive designs, such as the Warre hive and its quilt box; natural tree cavities honey bee colonies tend to nest in; and discussions with and admiration for the work of Dr. Thomas Seeley led us down a long road to find the perfect balance between a bee-centric design that truly made a healthier hive cavity, aesthetics for the beekeeper's apiary, and sustainable, local manufacturing.
