Meet our newest addition to the Bee Built family: a mason bee house crafted in our Portland mill from the same beautiful material we use in our honey bee hives. By turning leftover lumber into habitat for native pollinators, we reduce waste and support healthier ecosystems at the same time.
Mason bees are early-spring specialists, gentle, solitary bees that nest in tubes and tirelessly pollinate fruit trees, berries, and garden beds. They don’t make honey and are considered stingless, which makes them wonderful companions for backyards and urban settings alike.
Each house is sanded to a smooth finish, designed with a French cleat for simple installation, and ready for a coat of tung oil if you prefer additional weather protection.
We include about 50 nesting tubes plus a packet of wildflower seeds so you can create an inviting place for these hard-working native bees to thrive.
