Your Beekeeping Journey
If you’ve been thinking about getting started keeping bees, or upgrading your current setup, this is your moment. Beekeeping is a lifelong learning process, you don’t need to know everything on day one. You just need a solid foundation, a good hive, and a willingness to learn.
1. Start With Curiosity
Beekeeping is as old as agriculture itself, and there are just as many ways to do it well. The best thing you can do as a beginner is learn as much as you can.
Talk to local beekeepers, join a group, watch videos, read books. Even when opinions differ, you’ll start to understand what works in your area and what kind of beekeeper you want to be.
We’ve partnered with beekeeper Tara Chapman, founder of Two Hives Honey, to create Being With the Bees, a thoughtful, 4-part, beginner-friendly course designed to help you start your beekeeping journey with clarity and confidence.
2. Find Your Hive
The most common question we hear is: Which type of hive should I get? Different hive styles offer different benefits. Some are more hands-on, some require less lifting, and each supports bees in its own way. As you decide, think about what you want to get out of beekeeping, pollination, a little honey, or a lot.
We offer three types of hives, and we’ll help you choose the right setup based on your space and how you want to keep bees, so you can get started with confidence this spring.
3. Get Set Up for The Season
Once you’ve chosen your hive, it’s time to get everything in place. That means gathering the essential gear, preparing your space, and securing your bees for the season. It might sound like a lot, but it’s more straightforward than most people expect, and we’re here to guide you through it.
Our hives are designed as complete, thoughtful systems, so you’re not left wondering what you need or piecing things together on your own. From your first setup to welcoming your bees, everything is built to help you start smoothly.
Spring is the ideal time to begin, and there’s still time to have a healthy, active hive by summer.
