Our medium Langstroth kit is made from FSCⓇ certified Douglas Fir or Western Red Cedar lumber. The three medium boxes assemble easily with our precision milled comb cut joints, which create an exact fit.
Choose your wood type, screened or solid bottom, and whether you'd like 8 or 10 frame.
A roof, inner cover, and bottom board are all included and made from the same sustainable wood. The shingled roof echoes the design of the comb cut joint, delivering a cohesive aesthetic.
8-frame boxes measure 14" wide by 19⅞" long by 6⅝" deep
10-frame boxes measure 16" wide by 19⅞" long by 6⅝" deep
Frames NOT included. Standard medium frames work with this hive, or foundationless medium frames available for purchase.
Note: If choosing cedar, know that the lumber color can vary significantly within the same tree (let alone from tree to tree)! The top of the tree might yield very light lumber, while the middle might be darker or pinkish. This is part of the beauty of cedar.
Very good service, One or two cuts on one of the boxes was a little off, the box rocked slightly but I fixed it myself.
Super nice boxes well worth the money I definitely would buy again. I also used the quad pay. Which is a really nice option
Just got this one but already have two. like the Cedar so I don't have to paint. Holding up well enough to buy my third one.
My 8 frame complete hive is all glued and ******* together already. It fit together very well and was easy to assemble. I love the peaked top and am glad that there is a board at the bottom of it to limit the bee space. My only concern is that my other 8 frame boxes might not fit. I have read that your 8 frame boxes are a bit bigger (only by 1/2"). I have not tried them however. (I didn't know the 8 frame box doesn't have a standard.) Other than that, I'm extremely pleased with this hive. I would highly recommend it!
Excellent wood quality and precision cuts make assembly a breeze. Took tung oil beautifully and ready for next season. Originally bought as a gift for a new bee keeping friend...nope...ordering another for them.
