I received the panels but have not installed them yet. They appear to be what is needed as my current top bar roof has leaked after periods of rain. I caulked the roof seams with removable rope caulk, covered the roof with a heavy plastic bag and a tarp to keep the water out. But I fear my bees may have gotten wet as there has been no activity on warmer days where I expected them out flying. It seemed they had the bars propolized well but when I opened the hive to winterize there were puddles of water on the bars. I hope there was no leakage between the bars and into their home. I will install the panels in the Spring and go from there. If my current bees did not indeed survive I will plan for another package and introduce them to this hive. I am confident the panels will keep the water out.
Where are they????
I bought the roof panels to replace the roof on a garden hive cover that I had built. It was easy to install and looks nice. I think it will be more durable than what I had built.
The panels arrived with slight damage to the edges. Both panels, two spots on each. Basically just cosmetic, but it occurred before it was packed. The box was undamaged. Other than that, everything else was fine.
The new roof looks nice. I had not purchased my previous roof from Bee Built so the shape was a bit different (pointy peak vs topped off/level peak) and did not all connect but I was able to make it work.
